Airbus UK Broughton 1 (White 62)
NFA 0

Match-winner Lucie White showed more than one side to her talents as Airbus celebrated their first league victory of the season.

Not only did White score the 62nd minute deciding goal at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium, she also deputised as an emergency goalkeeper in the latter stages and made a couple of important saves.

Both sides were seeking a first league W of the campaign on Sunday, each having gained a solitary draw thus far.

And it was a good contest in Broughton with each team exchanging spells of pressure.

The breakthrough came just past the hour. Laura Pratt was played through on the right and drove into the box to get a shot off, which goalkeeper Courtney Ingram saved, but White was on hand to tap in at the far post.

Due to an injury to regular keeper Ruby Stevens, White then played the last 20 minutes in goal, making a couple of good saves.

She is in fact no stranger to the position, having previously worn the gloves in the North Wales League as a Corwen player.

Ruby Ellis could have extended the Airbus lead from a couple of good chances, one where she broke through but Ingram saved well in a one-on-one. Ellis also went close with a volley that flew just wide.

GENERO ADRAN PREMIER

Aberystwyth Town 1 (Jenkins 4)
Wrexham 2 (Hughes 23, Pritchard 45+1)

Wrexham edged up to second in the Adran Premier after maintaining their 100 percent away record with a hard-fought win at Park Avenue.

Steve Dale’s top-flight debutants made it three league victories in as many starts on the road thanks to goals from Rosie Hughes and Rebecca Pritchard.

Aber took the lead after Wrexham were caught trying to play the ball out from the back in the sixth minute.

Amy Jenkins lashed high into the net from a tight angle outside the area.

Wrexham responded with a spell of pressure which was eventually rewarded in the 23rd minute.

Mari Gibbard headed the ball on for Pritchard in the area, and after the winger had battled well, Hughes pounced on the loose ball to bundle it over the line.

Aber threatened on a few occasions before Wrexham grabbed the lead in first-half stoppage time.

Pritchard pounced on keeper Margot Farnes’ slip to score from close range.

Chances were at a premium after the break, Hughes denied what would have been her 100th Wrexham goal ruled out for offside in the final seconds of stoppage time.
