Team resigns from North Wales Women’s Football League

CPD MERCHED TREF CAERNARFON have resigned from the North Wales Women’s Football League after completing just one match.

They joined at the start of this season and were placed in the seven-team North Wales League West division.

After losing their debut game, 3-1 to neighbours Caernarfon Town on September 10, CPD Merched Tref Caernarfon took on Llanystumdwy seven days later in a match which was abandoned after 85 minutes due to a serious injury to a Llan player.

Not long after, some players who had committed to CPD Merched Tref Caernarfon left and signed for other local teams.

CPDM Tref Caernarfon had pulled out of all recent matches, mainly citing they were unable to raise a team.

North Wales Women’s League official Debi Ross confirmed CPD Merched Tref Caernarfon’s notice of resignation had been received earlier this week.

This now reduces the NWL West to six teams: Amlwch Town, Caernarfon Town, Llangefni Town, Llanystumdwy, Pwllheli and Trearddur Bay.

There are seven sides in NWL East: Bellevue, Berriew, Denbigh Town, Flint Town United, Kinmel Bay, Northop Hall and Welshpool Town.

CPD Merched Tref Caernarfon will also be withdrawn from the Betty Pickering Cup, due to start next month with a series of group matches.
