Great news for young footballer Harry Lockley

Best of luck to Denbigh Town defender Harry Lockley

Young footballer Harry Lockley received a life-changing call this week.

The 21-year-old Denbigh Town defender was suddenly told of a matching kidney. He had a transplant on Tuesday and is now recovering following surgery.

Harry has been battling with his condition which stopped him from playing in January before returning at the beginning of this season, but will now likely miss the remainder of the campaign.

“Everybody at Denbigh Town was thrilled to hear of the news that will be a major boost to Harry moving forward and we’re already counting down to his return to the pitch,” said a club statement.

Harry took to social media saying “last night I had an unexpected phone call saying a kidney match had been found for me.

“I have now had the surgery at 6am this morning (Tuesday) and currently recovering in hospital.

“In terms of my season it’s unfortunately likely to be over for me now, the aim for me is all going well, to be back and ready for next season.

“It’s a shame it’s come to an end this early on but I feel that now I can kick on and have a brighter future on the pitch and off it and I’m really excited about this! I already can’t wait for the day I’m back on the pitch again in the near future”.

DTFC’s statement added: “Everyone at the club is wishing Harry the very best and look forward to seeing him cheering on the lads at Central Park before his return to the pitch.”

Harry has appeared in 12 matches this season for Denbigh Town, their first back in the Tier 2 Cymru North.

Last season he featured in 22 games as Town lifted the Tier 3 Ardal North West title to clinch promotion.

His twin brother, Ben, is also a first team regular at Central Park.
