Result stands in this weekend cup tie which was abandoned late on following an injury to a Caernarfon player.
Cae Bob Parry was the venue for last Sunday’s North East Wales FA Women’s Challenge Cup first round tussle.between Dan Gregg’s Llangefni and Owain Bryn Jones’ Caernarfon side.
With goalkeepers Mia Gleave and Lucy Richardson out with illness, Llangefni lined up with defender Megan Summers-Jones in goal, meaning a start for Beth Jones at centre-back.
A much-improved Caernarfon side had the better of the opening half-hour with Llangefni starting slow.
Caernarfon were awarded a free kick in the 26th minute and they took the lead when captain Alaw Parry struck home for the visitors.
Llangefni responded brilliantly and took just two minutes to draw level, Jen Cox was sent through down the left by Ellie Coulson and finished well for her fourth goal in two games.
The lead for Cefni came quickly afterwards when a wicked corner from Marissa George fell to Hannah Owen who hit home on the volley to make it 2-1 to the home side at the break.
Llangefni started the second half as they finished the first when Hannah Owen turned provider and squared for Coulson make it 3-1.
Then in the 85th minute there was a collision in which Caernarfon defender Elin Jones was badly hurt.
Referee Tomos Jones handled the situation brilliantly and it was clear the game could not continue.
An ambulance was called and everyone at Llangefni is glad to say that Elin is doing well, and they wish her a quick return to Caernarfon action.
Llangefni go through to the next round where Bangor, Welshpool, Nomads, Airbus or Denbigh await.
