Your Space began as a pilot activity and social club for children and young people aged 8-19 who were on the autistic spectrum. They became a registered charity in 2013.
The activities are held at different locations in Wrexham County Borough. They are mainly based at the Resource Centre in Llay, with additional community activities within the wider geographical area in North East Wales and North Shropshire. Activities run throughout the year outside school hours.
For its young people they provide high quality, engaging sports, social and arts activities as after school and holiday clubs. For its families they deliver monthly activities that the whole family can join is such as its Family Swim Night, Sibling Sundays and Family Days Out.
Your Space’s Family Outreach Team offers parents and carers support, advice along with guidance. They are able to run counselling sessions with their highly trained in-house counsellor. Its Family Support Worker provides respite and community activities.
Media officer Andrew Edwards said: “As a charity we rely on volunteers to help run our sessions along with helping to us to provide the best level of service for our young people and families whilst also ensuring that funders will get the best value for money from our services.
“All of our volunteers receive the same level of training as our staff and we have an excellent record of progression from volunteers to the staff team, some of whom are autistic themselves, which as a charity we are very proud of.
