NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS AUGUST 19

DIVISION ONE

HAWARDEN PARK (0) 109-10 GWERSYLLT PARK (15) 111-1

Second hosted first at Moor Lane but it proved no contest as leaders Gwersyllt Park romped to a nine-wicket win which puts them 38 points clear at the summit with four rounds of matches left.

Hawarden won the toss and chose to bat, but could only manage 109 all out off 37.1 overs.

Leading away bowler Daniel Jones picked up 4-26 off nine overs, Iroshan De Silva 2-10 from six and Neil Pearson 2-18.

In reply, Gwersyllt reached 111-1 off 35.4, skipper De Silva 45 not out, Ethan McCarthy 34 and Ralfie Challinor 17 no.

The openers put on 54 before De Silva and Challinor added an unbroken 57.

The captain now has 825 league runs and 30 Division One wickets for the 2023 campaign.

CONWY (12) 37-6 CONNAH’S QUAY (3) 36-10

Sixteen wickets fell in a match that lasted less than 40 overs at Bodlondeb.

Connah’s Quay were inserted by the opposition and skittled out for just 36 off 18.5 overs, Patrick Jelley pocketing 3-19, Tom Plank 2-1 and Vaughan Williams 2-11.

In response, Conwy stuttered their way to a winning 37-6 from 20.4, Dan Davies with a match-highest knock of 17.

Lee Davies took 3-7 and Mali Auty 2-11 for the Deesiders, Conwy bossing the points 12-3 after a four-wicket victory.

LLAY WELFARE (3) 122-9 BUCKLEY (12) 124-7

Adam Shaw claimed 5-25 and Matthew Blunden 2-34 as Buckley limited Llay to 122-9 off 45 overs after putting the opposition in, Ethan Griffiths scoring 40 for the hosts.

It was not an easy ride for the visitors in reply, but they got to 124-7 from 34.2, Alex Storey 37 not out, Tom Parry 3-33 and Jack Honey 2-13 for Llay. Points: 12-3 to Buckley.

ABERGELE (15) 83-1 MARCHWIEL & WREXHAM (0) 81-10

Lewis Tolond collected 4-14 off nine and David Moulson 2-16 as Marchwiel and Wrexham were dismissed for just 81 after opting to bat.

In response, Gele eased to 83-1 off 21-4 for a 15-0 victory, extras 24, Mark Everall 23 and Moulson 21 not out.
