A ruthless display of finishing from Holywell secured them a third straight league win which puts them joint top on nine points alongside Bangor 1876 and Airbus UK Broughton.

After having a player red-carded very early on, it was always going to be a long night for hosts Denbigh, who were beaten for a third time in four outings since their promotion to tier 2.

Dewi Llion’s side were in bother after less than two minutes when the returning Jason Foulkes jumped into a challenge and was shown a red card by referee Richard Wright.

Denbigh found themselves under a mountain of pressure, which eventually told after 20 minutes when Mr Wright pointed to the spot following a foul in the box.

Zebb Edwards stepped up and slotted home left-footed to give the visitors the lead.

After 29 minutes Johnny Haseldin’s men doubled the advantage when Jake Cooke cut inside from the left, beating Sion Jones before drilling into the bottom corner beyond the reach of Aaron Jones.

Just before half-time Holywell added a third as Brady McGilloway danced through the Denbigh box before finishing sublimely.

Despite the circumstances, Denbigh didn’t come out disheartened and registered the first effort of the second period when Tom Weir dashed down the left before hitting one into the side netting.

However, they quickly discovered that Holywell were not going to let up when Cooke added his second and the visitors’ fourth with a tidy finish.

On 56 minutes it was almost five when Gareth Evans clattered the crossbar following a defensive mix-up.

A further piece of confusion led to the inevitable fifth as Danny Andrews’ corner went straight in to sum up a disastrous evening.

Denbigh kept trying and did manage to pull a goal back late on.

With four minutes to spare a Ryan Kershaw shot was spilled by Shaun Pearson and Jacob Walker followed up really well to tap home and give the home portion of the superb 486 crowd something to cheer.

Ruthin Town 1 (El Amri 90+5)
Flint Town United 1 (Jones 47)

A 95th minute equaliser for Ruthin from Italian Soulayman El Amri was the least they deserved after a fine performance against one of the title favourites.

In the first half, veteran keeper Stephen Roberts pulled off a good double save for the home team, who saw Jake Hampson, Gwion Owen and Llyr Morris go close.

Early in the second half, Flint took the lead when former Ruthin player Josh Jones found the net.

On 53 minutes the visitors were down to 10 men when Paddy Lacey was sent off for a poor challenge on Gwion Owen.

For the rest of the game Ruthin pressed for the equaliser, Owen and Ethan Davies hitting the woodwork with efforts from outside the box.

Morris and El Amri had good chances well saved and centre half Vita Mbolokele was not far away.

Finally, in the 95th minute Morris fed sub Keuyni Mills, whose cross was turned in by El Amri to give the home team just rewards for a good display.
