North Wales Cricket League Divisions 3 and 4 – wins for Conwy, Quay and Denbigh

Division Three leaders Ruthin were narrowly beaten at Connah’s Quay 2nds

DIVISION THREE

Conwy 2nd XI (12) 167-7 Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn (3) 166-6

Half-centuries from Stuart Watkins and Andrew Davies guided Conwy seconds to a three-wicket home victory.

Visitors Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn were invited to bat and posted 166-6 off a reduced 30 overs, wicket-keeper Stuart Applewhite an excellent 76 and Yash Soni hitting 36.

David Owen scooped 2-23 and Harry Driscoll 2-42 for the hosts, who hit back with 167-7 with two balls to spare.

Number three Watkins struck 72 and opener Davies 50, the pair putting on a vital 129 for the second wicket.

Conwy lost a few batsmen from there, but still made it over the line, Soni 3-36 and Umang Desai 2-25 for the away side.

Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (11) 116-8 Ruthin (4) 112-9

Put in by the hosts, division leaders Ruthin were limited to 112-9 off 40 overs, number seven bat Jamie Hughes saving them from further embarrassment with 44.

James Thomas was the star bowler for the home side, taking 6-20 off eight overs.

Quay just got home on 116-8, from 39.5, Kevin Jones hitting a crucial 37. Llyr Williams took 3-20 and Matthew Duckworth 2-42 for Ruthin.

Denbigh 2nd XI (13) 40-4 Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (2) 39-10

A six-wicket win for Denbigh seconds in a low-scorer at Ystrad Road.

The home side put their visitors in and dismissed them for a paltry 39, Simon Williams taking 3-8 off eight, John Lloyd-Williams 3-8 from five and Jake Hall 2-8.

Denbigh reached 40-4 in 9.4, Mike Griffiths 2-6 and Josh Marshall 2-30 for the visitors.

Clwb Criced Caernarfon (3) Llandudno 2nd XI (3) – cancelled

DIVISION FOUR

Bersham 2nd XI v Marchwiel & Wrexham 2nd XI, Carmel and District 2nd XI v Dolgellau 2nd XI, Llanrwst 2nd XI v Hawarden Park 3rd XI and Ruthin 2nd XI v Halkyn 2nd XI – all cancelled, all teams three points each
