Primos continue to impress in Division One

HOGAN GWYNEDD AND ANGLESEY SUMMER NETBALL LEAGUE 2023 – REPORTS WEEKS 4 AND 5

We are in the sixth week of action in the Hogan Gwynedd and Anglesey Summer Netball League.

WEEK FIVE

DIVISION ONE – JULY 5

Dyffryn Ladies 14-30 Pwllheli Panthers
(5-3, 9-5, 12-16, 14-30)

What a turnaround in this one!

Dyffryn were handily placed with a 9-5 half-time lead, but Panthers hit back to take the third quarter 11-3 and then stormed the last 14-2!

Menai Mavericks 18-33 Arfon Ladies
(6-11, 12-17, 16-23, 18-33)

It was Arfon all the way in this one, with a 10-2 score in their favour in the last quarter.

Dolgellau 33-26 Walis Picton
(9-4, 17-14, 21-21, 33-26)

Dolgellau produced a big performance in the final quarter to win by a seven-goal margin. The teams were dead level at 21-21 before the last.

DIVISION TWO – JULY 4

Fflamau Brynrefs 51-39 Porthmadog (6 players)
(12-7, 24-16, 37-27, 51-39)

The usual big scoring match involving Porthmadog, who did really well to net 39 goals despite only having six players. Brynrefs broke the 50-barrier in this goal-packed thriller.

Holyhead 29-25 Bethesda
(10-5, 16-11, 21-16, 29-25)

Holyhead led by five after each of the first three quarters, but Bethesda rallied to win the fourth 9-8. Caergybi ran out deserved winners, though.

Wariars Walis 30-16 Dreigiau Brynrefs
(7-3, 14-7, 22-11, 30-16)

Wariars built up their score steadily throughout and ended up convincing victors.

WEEK FOUR

DIVISION ONE – JUNE 28

Primos 40-33 Menai Mavericks
(14-7, 21-18, 31-26, 40-33)

What a great game!

Primos led 14-7 after the opener, but Mavericks stormed back to win the second 11-7.

The third went 10-8 Primos, and the Penygroes side made sure of victory by edging the last 9-7.

Dyffryn Ladies 32-30 Dolgellau
(8-7, 14-15, 23-22, 32-30)

A tremendous first win for Dyffryn in a real end-to-end battle.

Leading 8-7 at the end of the first, Dyffryn lost the second 8-6 and trailed by one at the midway stage.

Back came Dyffryn to take the third 9-7 and lead by just one goal ahead of the curtain-closer.

And it was the bottom side who won it 9-8 to claim a fantastic triumph.

Pwllheli Panthers 25-22 Walis Picton
(5-5, 10-10, 19-15, 25-22)

These two were level at half time, but Panthers just had the beating of their spirited opponents in the second phase.

DIVISION TWO – JUNE 27

Holyhead 38-15 Pwllheli
(10-1, 21-6, 28-10, 38-15)

High-scoring Holyhead were in control throughout, Carys Jones having a tremendous game for the Holy Islanders.

Dreigiau Brynrefs 12-44 Fflamau Brynrefs

Despite a close opening quarter, the battle of the Brynrefs went very much the way of Fflamau.
