Hurray! Hurray! for Colwyn Bay!
On a day where most Liverpool Competition games involving North Wales sides were abandoned due to rain, Bay seconds achieved a cracking eight-wicket victory which included a magnificent seven victims for Tom Clarke.
Bay remained strong in the top three of the 2nd XI Premier Division after a fine Saturday display at Penrhyn Avenue.
Lytham seconds won the toss and batted, but were blown away by the magic of Clarke, who snared second-best career bowling figures of 7-44 as the visitors collapsed to 125 all out.
Clarke’s finest analysis remains 7-28, also for Bay seconds, against Rainhill seconds back in 2016.
New-ball partner Jamie Moorhouse claimed 3-51 with Lytham being as badly-placed as 83-9 before a last-wicket stand of 43 gave them some respectability.
Bay made light work of their victory target, Dan Russell (54) and Shaun Davies (41 not out) putting on 101 for the first wicket.
The hosts took just 22.5 overs to reach 129-2, sealing an eight-wicket, 25-4 points verdict.
Rainford 191-7 (Paul Jenkins 4-53) Colwyn Bay 0-0 – no decision, rain stopped play, 5 pts each
Alder 41-5 (Ankur Malik 4-11) Northop Hall 84-10 – no decision, rain, 5 pts each
Irby 0-0 Prestatyn 111-8 (Sheil Sethi 52) – no decision, rain, 5 pts each

Sunday: Northop Hall 2nd XI 0-0 Old Xaverians 2nd XI 175-5 (Matthew Edwards 3-14) – no decision, rain, 5 pts each
A battling draw for Prestatyn seconds against the leaders at Beach Close.
