NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JULY 8

DIVISION ONE

Conwy (4) 201-8 Abergele (11) 204-8

Long-time rivals Conwy and Abergele played out a thriller at Bodlondeb which saw the visitors triumph by two wickets.

Gele won the toss and put the hosts in. Skipper Jonathon James Davies top-scored with 64 and Patrick Jelley hit 47 not out in a total of 201-8 off 45 overs, Lewis Tolond grabbing 3-49 and David Moulson 2-25 for the away team.

In reply, Abergele slumped to 13-2 and 85-4 before Nathan Aldridge took command with 68 off 66 balls, spanking eight fours and a six as the visitors made it to 204-8 in 40.2.

Gele were edgy on 175-8 before Sam Painter (12 no) and Luke Sellers (10 no) saw them home with an unbroken ninth-wicket stand of 29.

Karl Higgins (24) shared in a partnership of 62 for the fifth wicket with Aldridge.

Tom Plank and Jelley both snapped up 2-36 for Conwy.

Richie Parry’s 98 not out was the third best score of his career and guided Bethesda to a maximum points success over Buckley.

Parry and Matthew Harrington (55) put on 114 for the opening wicket as Pesda piled up 243-6 off 45, Harrison Speed 2-23 and Alex Storey 2-33 for the visitors.

Bucks, who opted to field first, were bowled out for 124, Speed 28 no, Ben Parker nabbing 4-7 for the hosts, John Maloney 2-34.

Dolgellau (12) 264-4 Marchwiel and Wrexham (3) 220-9

Jack Williamson posted a club best 119 not out as Dolgellau won a high-scoring game at home to Marchwiel and Wrexham.

Put into bat, Dol made the most of it with Williamson leading the charge and Jonathan Lloyd hitting 87, the pair putting on 163 for the third wicket.

Sam Shoemark took 2-37 and Sam Heard-Edwards 2-46 for the visitors, who finished 220-9 in response.

Josh Williams chalked up 47, Nick Husbands 43 and Shoemark 31, while Sam Williams excelled for the home attack with 3-13 off nine, Joel Eynon 2-16.

Menai Bridge 2nd XI (2) 159-9 Gwersyllt Park (13) 231-9

Ralfie Challinor (55), Iroshan De Silva (47) and Alfie Lythgoe (39) were the chief contributors as Gwersyllt amassed 231-9 at Tyn-y-Caeau.

Dion Owen took 4-56 and Ian Granger 2-29 for the Bridge, who were asked to field first.

De Silva and Challinor formed a stand of 68 for the second wicket.

Despite a spirited 47 not out from Matt Bixby, the Anglesey hosts were restricted to 159-9 in reply, having lost their first four wickets with the total on 14.

Lewis Cole bagged 4-24 and Daniel Jones 2-30 for the leaders, who are 12 points clear at the Division One summit.
