The FAW National Leagues Board and JD Cymru Premier clubs have approved a number of top flight rule changes ahead of the 2023/24 season. These include:
To reflect that JD Cymru Premier clubs must list 25 players on its List A, the number of medals awarded to a club has increased from 25 to 30.
The JD Cymru Premier has amended Rule 13 so that there is no longer an obligation for clubs to use designated Youth Substitutes should they wish to make more than three substitutes.
However, in order to continue to encourage a pathway to the first team, should the clubs wish to nominate seven substitutes rather than five, then two of the seven nominated must be designated Youth Substitutes. There will be no obligation for them to be used.
In order to avoid kit clashes, clubs must submit three goalkeeper kits.
To achieve consistency and clarity across competitions, extra time has been removed from the JD Cymru Premier Play-Off matches. In the event that the matches end in a draw, the match will go straight to kicks from the penalty spot.
To reflect the changing nature of the method of payments, clubs now have the ability to determine if they wish to pay a match official in cash or by BACS. If a match official requests a certain method within 48 hours of the match, then the club must oblige.
It will no longer be mandatory for clubs to produce a match programme, but rather at the discretion of the club and whether it aligns with their own business plan.
To counteract the potential loss of content, should a club opt to not produce one, then they must produce at least one piece of pre-match content on their social media and website in advance of the match.
