He’s done it – the amazing Asa Thomas has broken yet another goal scoring record

He’s done it – record-breaker supreme Asa Thomas has set another all-time best!
This phenomenal Holyhead based striker established a new record for the Bob Brodie Trophy when his hat-trick for Trearddur Bay against CPD Y Fali today took him to 73 goals for the season.
That beats the previous highest 72 by James Ryan of Caergybi in 2018-19.
Asa, 32, began the season on 582 career goals and that total now stands at 655.
When he reached 632, he passed the all-time highest North Wales coast career tally of 631 achieved by the great Tommy Welsh, also of Holyhead, in the 1950’s and 1960’s.
Asa is unlikely to ever beat his best haul in a single season on 112 in 2010-11, but this 73 – 57 goals in the North Wales Coast League Division One and 16 in cups – is his finest effort since then.
Those 73 goals this term have come in just 33 games and includes 12 hat-tricks, a six, a five and a four and his last 17 matches have produced a stunning 46 goals.
He has not failed to score in those 17 games, going back to December 10, and he has nabbed four hat-tricks on the bounce.
His goals have helped Trearddur Bay win the Division One title in their comeback season and they have a double in their sights with a cup semi-final against Llanfairpwll to come next Saturday.
The Bob Brodie Trophy has been competed for every season (except 2020-21 due to Covid) since 2011-12 and honours the highest goal scorer in senior Anglesey football.
It is named in tribute to Bob, a Holyhead-based Scot, who was a highly respected player and manager on the island.
