Wednesday football previews – Denbigh can go top of Ardal North West with a point tonight, Cookson Cup Final, all the fixtures

Denbigh Town need just a point at Llay Welfare tonight to hit top spot in the tier 3 Ardal North West League.

Reaching the peak would be the ideal boost for Dewi Llion Jones’ side three days ahead of their FAW Amateur Trophy final against Trethomas Bluebirds at Newtown this Saturday.

Denbigh have won 19 matches on the bounce and have already beaten Llay twice at home this season – 4-0 in the league and 2-1 in the Ardal North League Cup.

LATEST ARDAL NORTH WEST TABLE

Town have a treble in their sights, with a League Cup final date with Bow Street ahead as well as the Trophy final and run-in for the league title.

April 29: Trethomas Bluebirds (n – FAW Trophy Final)
May 3: Llanrwst United (a – league)

NORTH WALES COAST EAST COOKSON CUP FINAL – ST ASAPH CITY v PRESTATYN SPORTS

St Asaph City (stripes) in action against Llansannan last Saturday

Can anyone stop St Asaph in their treble bid?

Already big favourites to win the tier 4 North Wales Coast East Premier Division title, and also into the NWCFA Intermediate Cup Final where they take on Menai Bridge Tigers, Saints tonight visit nearby Denbigh Town to meet Prestatyn Sports in the Cookson Cup Final.

It has the makings of a good contest with Sports seventh in the East Premier, but capable of placing much higher if they win games in hand on the teams above.

The Cookson finalists have not yet met this season, but will clash again in a league game at Roe Parc three days after the final, then again at The Meadows on May 10.

Sports have a hectic run-in to the end of the campaign, but would dearly love to get a trophy in the bag this evening.

Asaph have won 12 matches in a row and are flying.
