Congratulations Colwyn Bay – the 21st club to win the tier 2 Cymru Alliance/Cymru North league title.
Bay had one hand firmly on the trophy before today’s visit to Penrhyncoch, but a 2-0 win for Steve Evans’ men, coupled with a defeat for second-place Holywell Town at home to Llandudno settled the issue.
The Seagulls will now be promoted to the tier 1 Cymru Premier League for the first time, having secured their top-flight licence on Thursday.
Colwyn Bay returned to the Welsh pyramid in 2019-20 after spending the previous 35 years in the English system.
They were accepted into the FAW Championship North and finished third in their debut season.
The next campaign was cancelled due to the pandemic, then last term the Seagulls ended up sixth.
This season, under former Wales, Wrexham and TNS star defender Steve Evans, has been a whole new ball game.
Bay were dominant from almost day one, drawing their opener at Llandudno and then winning 25 matches in a row before losing to sole title challengers Holywell Town.
Back-to-back wins over Penrhyncoch sealed Colwyn Bay’s first league title since they were crowned Northern Premier League Division One champions in 1991-92.
