Has there ever been a more convincing winner of an FAW Trophy semi-final?
Ardal North West dazzlers Denbigh stormed to an 8-1 victory over Bridgend Street of the tier 4 South Wales Alliance League at neutral Victoria Park, Llanidloes, this afternoon.
Seven different players appeared on the scoresheet for Town, who have now won 12 games in a row across all competitions.
Dewi Llion’s side will meet Trethomas Bluebirds of tier 3 Ardal South East in the final.
Last night the 10-man Bluebirds recovered from 3-0 down to dramatically beat Llandrindod Wells 4-3 in the other semi.
Bridgend Street had overcome tier 3 Rhos Aelwyd in the last round, so merited much respect ahead of today’s tie.
But from the start Denbigh were in control and established a 6-1 lead by half time.
Jason Foulkes got the ball rolling with a fourth-minute goal and Craig Pritchard made it two after 19 before net-finders from Nathan Brown and Jake Walker just moments apart put the North Walians in complete command.
Dan Parry Jones added a fifth and Ben Lockley made it six in first half added time before Street responded through Jeffrey White just before the interval.
The tier 4 outfit were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute when Rhys Foley was shown a second yellow.
The contest was long over, but Denbigh added icing on the cake when Walker notched his second in the 70th minute and substitute Sam Haddon completed the rout on 72.
