Which men’s team has scored the most league goals in senior North Wales football so far this season?

Well, the side concerned reached the 100 league goals mark for 2022-23 at the weekend.

They are Acton FC from Wrexham, currently second in the tier 5 North East Wales League Championship Division.

Has anyone come close to Acton? Read on……

TOP 10 GOALSCORING TEAMS IN SENIOR NORTH WALES FOOTBALL
(LEAGUE GOALS ONLY – UP TO AND INCLUDING FEBRUARY 27, 2023)

1 Acton – North East Wales Championship Division (tier 5)
Played 16 Goals 100

Or should it be Ac-TON now? 😄😄

A century of goals in just 16 matches for the team that returned to senior football this season.

In fairness, 50 of those goals have been scored over four matches against the two weakest teams in the division. Acton won those games 10-0, 16-2, 13-0 and 11-1.

However, 100 goals is still a great achievement and leading the way on 35 is Sam Giles.

2 Colwyn Bay – Cymru North (tier 2)
Played 24 Goals 90

To pile up 90 league goals in tier 2 is quite something, although Colwyn Bay have had 24 games in which to do it.

Nonetheless, the Seagulls are having a dream season – unbeaten in the league with 23 wins and a draw and seemingly destined for the title.

3 Llandudno Amateurs – North Wales Coast East Division One (tier 5)
Played 15 Goals 81

Well placed for a tilt at the league title and two strikers in Azz Rogers and Joe Jones who could provide the crucial push, with 43 Division One goals between them

4 Trearddur Bay – North Wales Coast West Division One (tier 5)
Played 16 Goals 79

As always, the amazing Asa Thomas is the man to watch, with 28 league goals to date and 40 in all competitions.

However, Division One leaders Trearddur have plenty of other quality players capable of hitting the net as the Beach Boys pursue the title.

5 Abergele – North Wales Coast East Division One (tier 5)

Played 16 Goals 66

Top of the table and highest scorers in their division with 66.

The likes of Jack Hoult, Dom Holland, Tommy Lloyd and Connah Atkinson have contributed a fair few, but it is very much a team effort.

6 Cemaes Bay – North Wales Coast West Division One (tier 5)
Played 17 Goals 66

Challenging for the title as expected, Cemaes have a whole host of players who can ripple the net, including the excellent and ever consistent Matt Reynolds.

7 Ruabon Rovers – North East Wales Championship Division (tier 5)
Played 9 Goals 63

With the likes of Conner Kendrick and Andrew Swarbrick in the ranks, it is little wonder that Ruabon are averaging seven goals per league game.

8 Bethesda Athletic – North Wales Coast West Premier Division (tier 4)
Played 19 Goals 63

Top scorers in the Premier and leading the table.

So many proven goalscorers in the team, Scott Hughes and Benn Lundstram among the finest.

9 Caerwys – North East Wales Championship Division (tier 5)
Played 15 Goals 61

Impressive since the start of the season and look more than a good shout to remain title contenders to the end with goals not a problem having players such as Jack Smallman and Toby Hughes on call.

10 Llandudno – Cymru North (tier 2)
Played 24 Goals 61

When they are fully in the groove Llandudno can be prolific in front of goal with players such as Marc Williams, Joe Chaplin and Shaun Cavanagh leading the charge.

HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT TO BRING THE WOMEN INTO IT…..

CPDM BANGOR 1876 have scored 109 GOALS IN 18 league games!! 😄😄
