Three football players have been charged following an alleged incident of disorder on the pitch during a match between Rhyl 1879 and Bangor 1876.
Another player also received a police caution following events at Rhyl’s Belle Vue Football Ground on Saturday, October 22nd last year.
Rhyl players, Alex Jones, 28, of Rhyl and Leon Atkins, 21, of Rhyl and 1876 player Shaun Lock, 30, of Bangor were all charged with affray on February 21st.
Alex Jones was also charged with assaulting another player.
Detective Constable Kieran Davies said: “Following the disorder, both clubs and the Football Association of Wales were eager to co-operate with the police investigation and expressed their wish to restore the Corinthian spirit with which the game should be played.
“Following an investigation and with support from witnesses, the Crown Prosecution Service has taken the decision to charge Rhyl players Alex Jones and Leon Atkins and Bangor player Shaun Lock with affray.”
Jones, Atkins and Lock will appear before Llandudno Magistrates Court on 29th March 2023.
