NORTH WALES COAST EAST FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION ONE REPORTS – JANUARY 28, 2023

Abergele 1 NFA 3

Abergele’s 37-match unbeaten run in the league came to an end at the hands of ambitious NFA.

Gele started well and found themselves in the lead. Keeper Cain Folly picked out Connah Atkinson who lofted the ball over the keeper.

Rhyl-based NFA found themselves level just before the half hour mark thanks to a Ryan Williams header.

Half-time: 1-1

Abergele started the second half the brighter and pushed to take the lead, Jack Hoult and Ricci Thomas with chances but NFA defended well.

A long range Ciran Brady effort found the top corner on 74 to put the visitors in front and as Abergele pushed for an equaliser Niall McGuinness sealed the victory for NFA on 83 minutes.

Ben Knight was red-carded for the hosts in the closing minutes.

Bow 3 Henllan 0

Mike Chapman delivered a double for a Bow side which maintained their hold on fourth place.

Tom Weir was also on the mark for the home team.

CPD Caer Clwyd 3 Rhos United 4

Cracking game at Myddleton College, Rhos edging it by the odd goal in seven.

Billy Bibby, Matt Christie and Scott Court (2) banked the points for the visitors, James Harrison, Joel Rowlands and Francis Roberts pushing Clwyd close.

Llandudno Amateurs 10 Rhyl Dragons 1

Joe Jones

Another double-figure show from goal crazy Amateurs.

Joe Jones, surely one of the finest lower league strikers in North Wales at the moment, scored a stunning hat-trick.

One left-foot beauty Jones hit like a rocket as it dropped would have beaten most keepers at any level.

He lashed another left foot long-ranger which was almost as good, this goal following some neat passing play.

And Jones also broke down the right, cut inside on his left peg and guided his effort home beautifully with all the precision of an Arjen Robben.

Anyone who knocks tier 5 football should see the type of goalscoring talent Joe Jones has – they might change their minds. All of his goals came in a nine-minute spell between 36 and 45.

Chris Smyth and Danny Talbot added two apiece, Azz Rogers, McKenzie Slaven and Sam Maddock also on target.

Colin Sargerson provided a reply for Dragons.

Llysfaen 0 Rhyl All Stars 2

Maurice Stringer and Thomas Bamber provided the goals on 72 and 88 minutes which earned the All Stars a welcome three points.

Llysfaen more than made a game of it, though, their manager Emlyn Robert Jones being full of praise for the performance.

Penrhyn Bay 1 CPD Y Glannau 3

Second-half substitute Harrison Bellis was on the mark twice to bring his season’s total to 36 goals in all competitions for Y Glannau.

Chris McQuillen also struck in the first half for the visitors, Corey-Lee Roberts responding for the home side when they were three-down.
