An 87th minute winner from Macauley Taylor ensured Rhyl 1879 returned to the Ardal North West League summit.
A thrilling encounter saw third-from-bottom Albion play their full part in a cracking coast derby which took place in front of 260 spectators at Belle Vue.
Both sides were hampered by injuries and suspensions, 1879 having just 13 players available and Albion 14.
It was the visitors who took the lead when Adam Hold latched onto a fine through ball and finished smartly in a one-on-one situation with keeper Luke Wilmot into the bottom corner.
The home side equalised on 23 minutes when Aaron White fired a superb 20-yarder past stand-in keeper Dan Evans.
Macauley Taylor made it 2-1 to 1879 in the 39th minute with a close range tap-in.
Half time: Rhyl 2-1 Albion
Three minutes into the second half it was all-square again when the impressive Hold put away his 11th goal of the campaign.
The ball was fed down the right wing, Elliot Jarvis played it to Joe Carey who delivered towards the near post where Hold had bent his run cross the centre half and finished right foot, bottom corner.
It was now anyone’s game with Albion putting in a tremendous effort and having no intention of settling for a point.
Some strong challenges were going in and yellow cards shown but it remained 2-2 until in the 80th minute Albion’s Ryan Vaughan saw a straight red.
Rhyl made the most of the extra man when with three minutes left, a Macauley Taylor header across the keeper found the net to deliver his eighth goal of the campaign to clinch the match.
