ARDAL NORTH WEST REPORT – DECEMBER 11

Llay Welfare 1 (Finlay 82)
Flint Mountain 4 (Jones 6, Smyth 18 & 61 pen, Brierly 70)

A fifth straight league win lifted Flint Mountain into fourth spot in Ardal North West.

Sunday’s clash at The Ring saw Aden Shannon’s side in superb form against opponents who have been in the higher reaches of the table all season.

Mountain produced a flying start, taking the lead after just six minutes.

Ieuan Hewitt launched a ball over the Llay defence which Sam Jones chased down and finished brilliantly.

In the 17th minute another fine goal followed when Sam Molyneux slipped in Kyle Smyth, who cut inside and finished clinically into the top corner.

An outstanding first 45 minutes from the Mountain, but the game was by no means over and the next goal would prove crucial.

It arrived for the visitors on 61 minutes when substitute Ben Brierly was brought down in the box and Smyth converted from the spot for his 15th goal of the campaign.

And the points were sealed on 70 minutes when Sam Jones’ superb delivery released Brierly to round the keeper and make it 4-0.

Sub George Finlay pulled one back for Llay on 82 minutes, but the points went to an on-fire Flint Mountain.
