Please support two Old Colwyn lads tackling a colossal running test in aid of amazing cause

Gary Rowlands and Sam Ranshaw aim to run more than 250 miles in aid of the Happy Faces children’s charity

Two friends are taking on a mighty challenge to raise funds for a fantastic cause.

Gary Rowlands and Sam Ranshaw from Old Colwyn will run the total equivalent distance of a marathon a day in aid of Happy Faces children’s charity, culminating in the London Marathon on October 2.

Happy Faces supports sick, disabled and disadvantaged children across North Wales.

Since 2003 it has raised over £1 million and provided 12 specially adapted school mini buses, day trips for over 5,000 children and specialist equipment for more than 700 youngsters in North Wales.

Gary and Sam set off from outside the Coast cafe bar and gift shop, Old Colwyn, on Thursday, September 22, their first run a 26.7 mile effort to Ruthin.

They are hoping to raise £10,000 for Happy Faces.

The rest of the schedule is/has been as follows:

  • Friday, September 23, run from Ruthin to Ellesmere 28.5 miles
  • Saturday run from Ellesmere to Newport 28.9 miles
  • Today (Sunday, September 25) run from Newport to Tamworth 32.5 miles (stay overnight)
  • Monday run from Tamworth to Rugby 33.2 miles (stay)
  • Tuesday run from Rugby to Milton Keynes 29.8 miles (stay)
  • Wednesday run from Milton Keynes to St Albans 27.8 miles (stay)
  • Thursday run from St Albans to N14 6BN near Southgate 14.2 miles (stay)
  • Friday run from N14 6BN to Blackheath (London) 14.8 miles (stay)
  • Saturday, October 1, is a complete day of rest.
  • Sunday, Oct 2 finish off running in the Virgin London Marathon 26 4 miles
    Accompanying Gaz and Sam will be Nigel Watkinson and Ray Herbert from Happy Faces children’s charity in the support vehicle with food, drinks, first aid kit etc.
