Managers of two clubs which won in the Welsh Cup at the weekend have resigned.

Stu Howson has stepped down as boss of Cymru North club Conwy Borough, while Llandudno Albion have announced Ricky Jones is no longer their joint-manager.

Borough defeated Kinmel Bay 3-2 in the Welsh Cup first round last Friday, but the Morfa club are rock bottom of the tier 2 Cymru North with no wins in seven starts.

Meanwhile, Llandudno Albion, 12th in the tier 3 Ardal North West, received a boost on Saturday when they triumphed 2-1 at Llangefni Town to reach the second round of the Welsh Cup.

However, the club revealed on Wednesday that long-serving player Jones, who became joint-manager this season with Karl Cheung, has relinquished his position.

A club statement said: “We have reluctantly accepted manager Ricky Jones’ decision to step down as joint-manager here at Albion.

“Ricky has been an unbelievable servant to the club over the years from gaining promotions, beating Rhyl in the Welsh Cup, to winning the Mawddach Cup and now to this present day as manager.

“We wish Ricky all the best and hope to see him back at Maesdu Park in the future as he is always welcome here.”

Jones said: “It’s not been an easy decision and I want to thank you all for your commitment whilst I’ve been on the coaching side of things.

“I’ve had some great memories at the club and loved every minute of it, I’ll still be down to support as and when I can and wish you all the best for the season “

Conwy Borough are inviting applications for their vacant manager’s position via email to:- conwyborough@outlook.com

Applications to be received by 5 pm on Wednesday 28 September.
