Trearddur Bay celebrate their first hat-trick hero as well as a record victory

Gail Paterson-Manning became the first Trearddur Bay woman player to score a hat-trick in her team’s record victory on Sunday.

Paterson-Manning, a former Liverpool player and past Welsh Cup winner with Bangor City, struck three times in the last 18 minutes against Caernarfon at Lon Isallt.

She was an Amlwch Town regular before joining newly-formed Trearddur last season, ending up top-scorer for the team in the North Wales League.

Bay beat Caernarfon 7-1 in their first game of 2021-22, but the result was declared void after the Cofis resigned from the league.

Trearddur bettered that scoreline on Sunday, captain Ashleigh Jones netting twice within the opening 10 minutes.

The hosts continued to control the game and scored another two goals in quick succession through Gemma Thomas and Hannah Smith.

Plenty more chances came their way, but at the interval it remained 4-0.

Chloe Taylor made it five early in the second half and Trearddur continued to dominate against a spirited Caernarfon side comprising a number of young players still in the early stages of senior football development.

Paterson-Manning then took centre stage with that late hat-trick.

Bay manager Mark Parry said: “We played some excellent football throughout the game. A great start for us and we wish Caernarfon all the best for the rest of the season.”
