Denbigh Town are aiming to bring back the good times this season

Triple G was fighting in Las Vegas on Saturday night and Triple M were giving it everything for Denbigh Town on Sunday. Triplets Charlotte, Emily and Lucy Morris are all back representing the Vale of Clwyd club in the North Wales League

After a very difficult 2021-22 Denbigh Town Ladies are looking to rebuild this season – and they have made a great start.

Relegated from the tier 2 Adran North at the end of last term, Denbigh are now competing in the third-tier North Wales Women’s League.

It might be early doors, but Town already have back-to-back victories in the bank, having won 1-0 at Llanfairfechan Town in their opener before following up by defeating Llanystumdwy 4-1 on Sunday.

Steph Farley

Denbigh have strengthened the squad over the summer, including securing the return of defender Steph Farley, who won the North Wales League title with CPD Y Rhyl 1879 last term.

Sophie Bancroft

Steph has scored in each of her first two matches, and there is plenty of other talent at player-manager Ellen Lawson’s disposal.

Town have all three of the Morris triplets – Charlotte, Emily and Lucy – back available, while much-travelled Sophie Bancroft has returned to the club.

Eluned Evans

Elen James-Owen will remain captain this season, but there is a new vice-skipper in the promising Eluned Evans.

Goalkeeper Katie Spruce

New faces include goalkeeper Katie Spruce and striker Charlotte Cooper, who scored at Llanystumdwy.

At Dwyfor Park on Sunday, Town’s first goal came when Charlotte Morris set up new recruit Cooper to score.

Charlotte Cooper

Farley made it two when a ball was deflected into her path and she fired into the bottom corner.

Cooper provided the assist for young Lois Roberts to net the third and an Eluned Evans cross deflected in off a Llan defender for number four.

Lois Roberts

Managers Lawson and Aled Davies said after the game: “We travelled to Llanystumdwy with only 12 players, but the ladies put in a heck of a shift and came away with all 3 points following a hard fought 4-1 win.

“The management team are proud of all the players in today’s squad.”

There is a whole new sense of optimism in the Denbigh camp now and a team which has enjoyed plenty of success in the past may well be setting themselves up for a prosperous future.
