Who is Grassroots North Wales’ Clwb y Mis/Team of the Month for August 2022?

Talysarn Celts manager Wayne Jones (let) with new signing Rob Daniels

So many North Wales teams have started the 2022-23 season in fine form.

Picking one of them as the Team of the Month for August is a massively difficult task, but Grassroots North Wales has made its choice.

Our Clwb y Mis for August 2022 is TALYSARN CELTS.

Why Talysarn? Well firstly, they took on a new manager in Wayne Jones at the start of the season and it’s always difficult to hit the ground running when a change of boss takes place.

It is even tougher when the club in question has just been promoted to a higher standard.

However, Jones and his management team of Guto Hughes and Darren Usher have performed marvels so far, as well as the players, who have adjusted brilliantly to life in the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division.

Celts are in fifth place with 10 points out of 15 from five matches. They are just three points behind leaders Pwllheli with a game in hand.

Talysarn have enjoyed some fantastic wins. They beat tier 4 old heads Pwllheli 3-1 in their opening league game, won a 6-5 thriller against Nefyn United where they showed amazing character to emerge as winners and went to an always testing Penrhyndeudraeth and triumphed 3-1.

Celts have also pulled off a marvellous 2-0 Welsh Cup win away to a very capable Llandudno Junction side, having seen off Pentraeth in the previous round at the end of July.

Luke Baum, club top scorer for the past 5 seasons, who notched 49 in all competitions last term, is looking sharp again, while Jac Pearce Jones has shown deadly perfection from the penalty spot.

And the attack has just received a big boost with the signing of the experienced Rob Daniels.

Talysarn are, in our opinion, worthy of the title Clwb y Mis. The feeling is high at Gloddfa Glai!

So why did we not choose another team, such as CPD Y Rhyl 1879, who have a perfect record so far? Or tier 3 dark horses Nantlle Vale? So many teams made our shortlist.

Sometimes it’s not just about wins alone….it is the quality of the teams you beat, the standard you are playing at, whether you feel a team is punching above its weight.

These are just our opinions, others are always welcome.
