North Wales Division One – Seren stars for Bucks, Denbigh make it 18 victories in a row

Lancashire and North West Thunder player Seren Smale made the most of a rare opportunity to represent Buckley by hitting 74 in her team’s massive victory at The Marian.

The 17-year-old wicket keeper-batter struck her highest score and maiden half-century for Buckley’s first team.

Bucks chose to bat and amassed 238-6 off 45 overs, William Norman (39) and skipper Louis Parry (36) both providing strong support to right-hander Seren. Norman and Smale put on 53 for the second wicket, then Seren added 93 with Parry.

Jayden Roberts snapped up 2-40 and Morgan Yorke 2-55 for the hosts, who were then skittled out for just 81, Jonathon Lloyd 30.

Buckley’s Adam Shaw picked up 3-7 off seven overs, Rhys Jones 2-6 and Jack Williams 2-10.

Denbigh (14) 48-2 Conwy (1) 44-10

Promotion back to the Premier is now just four points away for a Denbigh side which boosted their 100 percent record to 18 straight wins on Saturday.

Conwy chose to bat at Ystrad Road and were blasted away for just 44 in 23.1 overs.

Joe Lewis took 3-6, Alec Lewis 3-23, Harrison Jones 2-0 and Ifan Jones 2-10.

Denbigh reached a winning 48-2 in 8.4, sealing a 14-1 points win.

Bangor 2nd XI (3) 173-5 Abergele (12) 176-6

Edward Rooney starred with bat and ball as Abergele took the honours at Ty Newydd.

Put into bat, Bangor seconds were limited to 173-5 off 45 overs, Chris Barry scoring 58 and Jamie Davies 58 not out.

Former skipper Rooney produced the fifth best bowling figures of his career for Gele, taking 4-42 off nine overs.

The visitors reached the winning post with 10 balls to spare, ending on 176-7 with Rooney posting 49 no and sharing in a match-winning unbroken seventh-wicket partnership of 62 with Sebin Sebastion (24 no).

Earlier, Mark Everall had made 34, while Beth Hughes scooped a fine 3-25 from nine for the hosts.

Connah’s Quay (12) 157-6 Marchwiel and Wrexham (3) 156-10

Nick Husbands (32) top scored in a modest Marchwiel and Wrexham effort of 156 all out, Mali Auty best with the ball for Quay in taking 3-13 off 6.5 overs, Callum Miller grabbing 2-25.

The hosts made it to 157-6 off 38.2, skipper Tom Hooson leading the way with 31, Josh Williams 2-24 and Scott Lawrenson 2-28 for the losing visitors.

Gwersyllt Park (12) 247-5 Hawarden Park (3) 216-10

Skipper Iroshan De Silva struck 84 as Gwersyllt delivered a major blow to Hawarden’s promotion hopes.

The Sri Lankan top-scored as the hosts set 247-5 off 45 overs, Ralfie Challinor adding 58 not out, Shashika Meistry 35 no and Lewis Cole 34, Ian Martin 2-44 for the visitors.

Hawarden were bowled out for 216 in reply, Owen Skillander 50, Phil Bradfield 40 and Danny Sprake 30. Skillander and Bradfield put on 89 for the first wicket.

De Silva snared 2-12 for the home side, Alfie Lythgoe 2-18.

Llanrwst (0) 70-10 Halkyn (15) 220-8

Gareth Fox made 75 and Shamar Forde 57 as Halkyn set a winning total at Parc Gwydir which brought them maximum points.

The visitors posted 220-8 after being put into bat and with four matches left to play are just 15 points adrift of leaders Denbigh.

Alwyn Williams pocketed 4-66 and Jack Parry 2-32 for the Rwsters, who were then rolled over for just 70, Graeme Settle taking an excellent 3-12 off nine, Nathan Lavender 3-20 and Jamie Griffiths 2-24.
