Northop Hall were the stars of the North Wales Women’s Cricket League last weekend as they recorded a double victory.
The Hall not only beat neighbours Northop, they also celebrated a win over leaders Colwyn Bay.
The league is much more open in this, its second season, and it is good to see so many teams picking up good results.
Kathryn Rhymer led the way with 33 as Hall chalked up a formidable score of 134-4 off their 16 overs for a net total of 314.
Sara Williams posted 20, captain Hester Evans-Ford 14, Julie Pringle 12 and Hollie Sigsworth 11.
Alyson Oates scooped 2-11 for hosts Northop, Jane Williams and Mia Daniels grabbing a wicket apiece.
Skipper Jane Williams top-scored with 21 as Northop were limited to 96-6 in reply.
Kaye Jones made 20 but was out three times for a final net score of 5.
Rhymer completed a great match for Hall with 2-10, Evans-Ford notched 2-19 and there was a wicket each for Jess Petryszyn and Sigsworth.
Hall won by 48 runs.
In what was possibly the match of the season so far, Hall achieved perhaps their finest result by pipping the Bay in a tight contest.
Smithy Lane was the venue and Colwyn batted first, posting 107-8 off their 16 overs for a net 267.
Amy Kennedy did best with 11, Hannah Kennedy hitting 14 but losing her wicket once for a net of 9.
Hall bowled and fielded really well, Emma Jones collecting 3-10, Hollie Sigsworth 2-27, Sara Williams and Hester Evans-Ford one apiece.
In making 90-4 from 16, the hosts finished just three runs ahead with a net of 270.
Sara Williams made 19, once out for a net 14, Kathryn Rhymer added 13, Evans-Ford 11.
Amy Kennedy snared 2-7 and Jane Smith 1-9 for the table-toppers Bay.
Hannah Kennedy and Samantha Sherrington dazzled with scores of 49 and 41 respectively as Bay piled up a massive 183-1 off 16 overs at Flint Road.
Amy Kennedy added 27 and Jane Smith 19, Jane Williams claiming the only wicket taken by the hosts.
Northop were then restricted to 62-5, Kaye Jones 16, Amy Kennedy 2-9 and Julie Russell 2-13 for the visitors.
