One of the finest players to feature in the tier 2 Adran North last season has signed for the champions!
Mari Gibbard has returned to Llandudno, where she was top-scorer with 16 goals in 2018-19, when the Seasiders were in the Welsh Premier Women’s League.
Since then, Mari has been a star performer for Bethel (now CPDM Y Felinheli) in both the former North Wales League and the Adran North, which was launched last season.
Mari scored 16 goals for Bethel last term, making her joint-third top-scorer alongside Katie Midwinter.
Capable of playing in any attacking position, her control, passing and ability to change pace at any given second has led to style comparisons with Dennis Bergkamp, the former Arsenal and Holland great. Her set-piece delivery is second to none.
Mari is Llandudno’s seventh signing of the summer, following Louisha Doran, Mia Rawling, Erin Doran, Shona Roberts, Libby Rubin and Caitlin Bibby-Fry.
The 25-year-old’s talent has long been admired.
In May 2010, she scored a hat-trick as the girls of Ysgol Brynrefail, Llanrug, beat Cwmtawe 11-1 in the Welsh Schools Under-13 Cup Final.
Her first team as a youngster was Llewod Llanrug and she later played for the Bangor University side which won the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) League in 2015-16.
Mari played in the Welsh Premier for Llandudno in 2017-18 and 2018-19. In the latter season, she was top scorer with 16 goals in all competitions. No-one will ever forget THOSE amazing pair of goals she scored at Maesdu Park against Cardiff City.
She is an international, having represented Wales Universities in football and has also studied, played, worked and coached in America.
Last season, Mari was named in the Genero Adran North Team of the Season and was a contender for league player of the season.
