Llanfairfechan Town women’s football team have appointed a new management trio for the 2022-23 season.
Kelsey Hughes will be manager, Sadie Richards is the coach and Jonny Smith comes on board as assistant coach.
The Recreation Ground based side hopes to join the new tier 3 North East Wales Women’s and Girls League this term.
They have played a number of friendlies over the summer and shown plenty of promise.
Llanfairfechan first formed as a recreational league side in 2019 and Kelsey Hughes was part of the squad.
In 2019-20 she made a one-off appearance for Llandudno in a Welsh Cup tie and signed for the Seasiders in 2021-22, but picked up an injury in an Adran Trophy clash at Cardiff Met which has since kept her out of action.
Kelsey sees her new role at Llanfairfechan as a way of keeping involved in football while she battles her way back to fitness.
Sadie Richards was manager of Llanfairfechan when they started out in the North Wales Recreational League back in 2019-20.
A prolific goalscorer, she has also suffered with injuries which have held back her playing time.
Sadie has been working alongside Rachel Evans in recent months preparing the Llanfair squad for 11-a-side football.
With motherhood and work commitments, Sadie did not have the time to take on the current manager’s role permanently, but will still be on hand to assist close friend Kelsey in the dugout.
Jonny Smith is well known in North Wales football as manager of Mochdre Sports men’s side and coach of the club’s junior football teams. His experience will be vital to the girls.
