Paul Jenkins claimed a magnificent season’s best 6-52 and Will Evans smashed 88 not out as Colwyn Bay thrashed the leaders by seven wickets in a wonderful performance at Penrhyn Avenue
Visitors Liverpool won the toss and elected to bat, but the magic of left-arm spinner Jenkins proved too much as the Mersey men were bowled out for a modest 166.
Jenkins’ 6-52 off 15 overs took him to 45 league wickets for the season at 13.00 apiece. It was his third five-wicket haul of 2022 and finest analysis overall.
Patrick Glover collected 3-45 and Ryan Holtby took the other wicket to fall.
In reply, the hosts suffered two early blows when openers Jack Parry and Zack Gidlow both perished cheaply to leave Bay 38-2.
Sion Morris added a useful 32 before his departure saw the North Walians 55-3.
That was the end of the losses as Evans and skipper George Johansen formed an unbroken partnership of 115 for the fourth wicket to guide Bay to victory.
Evans’ 88 came off just 86 balls and included nine fours and four sixes, while Johansen ended 29 not out as the home side reached 170-3 off 34.3 overs.
Bay scooped the maximum 25 points to edge up to third in the table, while Liverpool lost top spot to Lytham, winners at Rainford.
