Sam is back to play it again as three debutants are also chosen for Wales NC North

Sam Rimmington (pictured above) is back in the Wales NC North 12

Llandudno’s Sam Rimmington has earned a none-too-surprising recall to the Wales NC North team to play at Staffordshire tomorrow.

Top-order batsman Rimmington was left out of the North side which lost by just four runs at home to Staffs 2nd XI on May 25, but since then he has scored a career best 166 and a decisive 54 in back-to-back victories for Tudno, helping them rise to third in the North Wales League Premier Division.

The 32-year-old has already scored 467 league runs and 622 in all matches for The Oval side this season.

He has hit two centuries and a pair of half-tons in the league, as well as 82 versus Mochdre in the Welsh Cup.

Rimmington played in Wales NC North’s losing opening game at Cumbria, but was not picked against Staffs at St Asaph last month. However, his stunning form surely made him a cert for selection this time around.

The Llandudno man is one of four changes to the 13 which took on Staffs at Elwy Park Grove, with debutants Gethin Roberts (Menai Bridge), Danny Ryan (St Asaph) and Owen Davies (Mochdre) all getting an opportunity.

All-rounder Roberts is skipper of the Bridge, bowler Danny is one of three Ryan brothers in the 13 and Davies is a 19-year-old top prospect at Mochdre who bats and bowls and took 39 Premier Division wickets last season.

James Claybrook (Brymbo), Duncan Midgley (St Asaph), Jack Parry (Colwyn Bay) and Jason Foulkes (St Asaph) are not travelling on this occasion.

Staffs 2nd XI and Wales NC North will meet in two T20 clashes at Milford Hall on Wednesday.
