North Wales Cricket League Division Two – Low scores are main order of the day

NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION TWO – MAY 14

Bethesda (14) 151-2 Gresford 2nd XI (1) 148-10

Matthew Harrington’s match-clinching 96 not out off just 62 balls ensured Bethesda’s perfect start to the season continued.
Visitors Gresford 2nds won the toss and decided to bat, but could only manage a total of 148 all out, skipper George Morris 31.
Jason Perry cleaned up the tail to finish with 4-5 off three overs, while Kevin Evans grabbed 4-29.
Pesda needed just 24.2 overs to reach 151-2, Harrington’s unbeaten knock including 15 fours and a six, Nicholas Parry’s 30 not out helping form an unbroken stand of 98.

Bersham (11) 163-8 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (4) 143-9

William Ridge’s unbeaten 66 was not enough to save Menai 2nds from defeat at Bersham.
The home side posted 163-8, Suresh Lakmal Koswaththage 38 and Rishan Fernando 31, Ian Granger 4-43 for the Anglesey side.
Bridge’s reply ended on 143-9, Ridge’s knock by far the biggest contribution, Koswaththage 4-20 and Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka 2-17 for the hosts.

Carmel and District (11) 107-10 Mochdre 2nds (4) 99-10

Two superb four-wicket hauls from Ieuan Jones and Derek Johnson ensured Carmel successfully defended a vulnerable-looking score at Pen-y-Gelli.
Put into bat, the hosts were dismissed for 107, Ryan Roberts (39) and Daniel Owens (38) dominating the innings, while for the visitors, Andrew Butlin snapped up 3-30.
Ieuan Jones then pocketed 4-19 from nine and Johnson 4-21 as Mochdre collapsed to 99 not out, Scott Roberts their main threat with 36. Carmel won by just eight runs.

Clwb Criced Caernarfon (1) 38-10 St Asaph 2nd XI (14) 39-2

Saints captain Ben Murphy’s decision to put Caernarfon in proved a sound one as his bowlers sent the opposition packing for just 38.
Elliot Morris scooped 4-13 off nine, Russell Moore 2-3 and David North 2-5 from nine.
The visitors eased to 39-2 off 11.3, Morris 22 no and Monis Altaf 2-16 for the hosts.

Northop 2nd XI (3) 113-10 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (12) 147-8

Jared Bennett’s vital 76 was the decisive factor in Hawarden Park’s 34-run victory at Northop 2nds.
Martin Hinton added 31 for the visitors, who chose to bat, Charlie Collins collecting 3-32 for the home team.
Northop were bowled out for 113, Nicholas Woods 4-16 and Ahmed Javed 4-28.

Ruthin (0) 45-10 Mold 2nd XI (15) 47-1

On a day of low totals, Ruthin were blitzed out for just 45 by visitors Mold 2nds.
Daniel Williams led the charge with 4-17 for the Flintshire side, Keith Embleton taking 2-0 off 21 balls.
Mold eased to 47-1, Luca Davies 30 no.
