Phoenix ended the season on a high by scuppering champions Hawarden’s 100 percent record.
Rangers entered the game on the back of 10 straight league wins, with just two matches to play, but their spotless slate was blotted when dropped their first points of the campaign.
The first half was well battled and without either team really threatening.
Pen arguably had the best opportunity when Neil Picton raced through only to drag his shot wide.
Hawarden made several substitutions at half time and began to show themselves as the better side.
After the Pen goalkeeper made a few great saves, Hawarden opened the scoring and soon made it 2-0.
Pen hit back when the Rangers keeper’s goal kick went straight to Phil Mountford who controlled fantastically and hit a beautiful shot from 35 yards which cleared the custodian and found the net.
Phoenix now had their tails up, continued to battle and finally got level in the last minute of the game through a scrambled goal from Robert Williams.
