It’s time we all knew – what is going on with the NWCFA Intermediate Challenge Cup?

Is it not about time we were told what is happening with this season’s NWCFA Intermediate Challenge Cup competition?

Here we are in early May and still a long-running dispute involving two clubs whose first round tie in January was abandoned remains unresolved.

The Meliden v Llanberis clash on January 15 was halted following an allegation of racial abuse.

Almost four months later and the silence over what the North Wales Coast FA might be doing about the matter is deafening.

In one half of the draw, CPD Y Rhyl 1879 have made it all the way to the final – but as far as they know they could yet face FIVE different opponents.

Bodedern Athletic are into the semis, but before they discover who they meet, the Meliden v Llanberis tie must be played, the winners to meet CPD Pwllheli.

The team that next emerges victorious will be up against Bangor 1876 in the quarter-final. Only after that game will Bodedern know who they face.

How has this matter taken so long to resolve?

It was great to see the return of the Intermediate Cup this season after an absence of five years, Llanystumdwy being the last winners in 2015-16.

And it was shaping up nicely before the Meliden-Llanberis issue threw an almighty spanner in the works.

There is the potential of a classic Bangor 1876 v Rhyl 1879 final – or an 1879 v Bodedern Athletic showdown – the clash of the invincibles.

But what if this drags on any longer? We might end up with nothing.

All we have at present is no communication, no apparent decision and, as is the case for many of us, no more patience.

Get your fingers out NWCFA and let the public know, let the clubs know.
