In recognition and celebration of Dave Maddock reaching 100 goals in competitive matches for Llandudno Albion, we present a few more highlights from the striker’s time with the club.
Dave scored Albion’s clinching fourth goal in their 2014-15 Junior Cup final victory over Trearddur at Nantporth, Bangor.
The red and whites were 3-2 up in extra time when Dave netted with an exquisite strike from 22 yards to ensure Albion became the first Llandudno side ever to win the Junior Cup.
And even better – this was achieved in Albion’s very first season of existence.
Probably the best result in Llandudno Albion’s short history came in the 2017-18 Welsh Cup, when they beat four-time competition winners Rhyl FC 3-2 at Maesdu Park.
The Tier 3 Welsh Alliance side stunned their visitors from the Cymru Alliance, who had been relegated from the Welsh Premier only the season before.
Dave set Albion on their way by putting them ahead with a 30-yard cracker. When interviewed two years ago, he chose this as his best goal.
Dave’s hottest goal-getting streak in an Albion shirt saw him net 16 times in nine matches between November 2017 and February 2018.
He began with his first hat-trick for the club in a 4-1 Cookson Cup victory over Trearddur Bay United on November 18.
Seven days later, he repeated the feat, scoring three in an 8-0 caning of Nantlle Vale.
Then followed two goals in wins over Pwllheli (6-2) and Barmouth (2-0) to make it 10 in just four starts.
Dave grabbed another hat-trick in an 8-1 hammering of Llanberis, then scored once versus Conwy Borough, Penrhyndeudraeth and Trearddur Bay.
Dave was switched from defence to up front in 2017-18 to amazing effect as he amassed 30 goals across all competitions.
A great honour for Dave as he is named the last-ever Player of the Season for the disbanding Welsh Alliance Football League.
The season ended in March 2020 due to Covid with Albion in fourth place and having reached the FAW Trophy Final, which sadly never took place because of the world pandemic.
Dave netted 15 goals in total over the season.
Dave’s 19th goal of the club’s debut season in the new Ardal North West was also his 100th for the club.
He scored in a 2-0 win at Llay Welfare to become the first Albion player to reach a century of goals.
