North Wales Coast West League – Bodedern back to ruthless best, Bethesda nine points clear

Amlwch Town 1 Bodedern Athletic 9

After a recent minor blip in what has otherwise been an amazing season so far, Bodedern were back to their destructive best as they returned to the Premier Division summit.

After 18 straight league wins, Athletic’s 100 per cent record ended last week with a 1-1 draw at Mynydd Llandegai, shortly after they were beaten 2-0 at Baglan Dragons in the FAW Trophy quarter-finals.

However, Ricky Williams’ side were unstoppable at Amlwch.

Asa Thomas’ 40th goal of the season gave them a third-minute lead, and even though Rhys Roberts equalised on 22, a Casey Boylan double before the break put Boded 3-1 ahead.

The second half was all about the visitors, Thomas netting again before Marc Evans got in on the act with his 51st goal of the campaign.

Thomas completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot and added a fourth on 80 minutes to make it 7-1.

Goals from Eric Leach and Jordan Taylor completed the rout.

Gwalchmai 3 CPD Pwllheli 3

Two late goals from Pwllheli earned them a point at Gwalchmai, who finished up with 10 men.

Jordan Roberts edged Pwll in front on nine minutes, but Jenson Rowlands levelled on the quarter-hour.

Ten minutes into the second half, Gwalch’s newly-converted striker, Konner Druce, edged his team ahead and it looked very promising for the hosts when Rowlands made it 3-1 on 75.

But the visitors hit back through Roberts, then three minutes into added time, Jamie Banks made it all-square.

Gwalchmai then had Rowlands dismissed for a second yellow card.

CPD Llanberis 2 Menai Bridge Tigers 1

Gethin Hughes gave the Bridge an early lead at Ffordd Padarn, but the Darans rallied to win with goals from Marcus Orlik and Dion Owen after 32 and 42 minutes respectively.

CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 3 CPD Nefyn United 2

Aaron Griffiths notched the only goal of the second half on 74 minutes to secure Penrhyndeudraeth maximum points.

Steven Jones benefited from a Griffiths assist to hand the hosts a fourth-minute lead.

The same Jones then converted an 18th minute penalty for 2-0, but Nefyn bounced back to be level at the break courtesy of net-finders from Dafydd Gwyn Jones and Steve Jones.

It was nip and tuck in the second half before Griffiths plundered the winner for Penrhyn, who leapfrogged the Penwaig into third spot.

CPD Pentraeth 1 CPD Mynydd Llandegai 6

Osian Jones bagged a hat-trick as Llandegai romped to an emphatic win at Bryniau Field.

A Jones strike and David Hayes double established a 3-0 half time lead for Huw Davies’ men.

Connor O’Neill replied for Traeth on 63 minutes, but Osian Jones added two more on 66 and 83 before Aaron Davies-Thomas rounded things off.

DIVISION ONE

Bethesda Athletic 2 CPD Y Fali 0

An 11th straight win for Athletic sees them nine points clear at the Division One peak, although nearest challengers Llannerchymedd and Cemaes Bay both have five games in hand.

However, Mark Hughes’ side had it far from easy against a much-improved Y Fali team at Parc Meurig.

Scott Hughes broke the deadlock in the 74th minute and it was not until the same player converted an added time penalty that Pesda could relax.

The visitors had second half substitute Marc Wilson sent off for a second yellow in the closing stages.

Llanfairpwll 3 Bethesda Rovers 1

Carwyn Roberts was a hat-trick hero for Llanfairpwll in a hard-fought win against the bottom side.

Roberts struck on one, 30 and 90+3 minutes, Sion Davies and Jay Finter assisting with the latter two, while Rovers pulled level in the early exchanges through Reece Williams.

Llangoed and District 4 CPD Cefni 0

Carwyn Williams hit a treble as Llangoed ended a run of six straight league defeats with an emphatic win over Cefni.

Williams found the net for the third-from-bottom team on six, 48 and 93 minutes, the latter coming from the spot.

Ashley Davies was also on the mark for the hosts after 59 minutes.

CPD Mountain Rangers 2 Holyhead Town 1

Dewi Cooke and Jason Taylor notched the all-important goals which sealed another useful three points for Rangers.

Kaine Bentley had earlier made it 1-0 to Holyhead, for whom Charlie Diamond missed a penalty before the hosts had scored.

Cooke levelled on the stroke of half time and Taylor’s decider arrived on 65 minutes.
