Ardal North East – Chirk AAA in command, Rhos Aelwyd hit six and Cefn Albion stay on track

Table-toppers Chirk strolled to their fourth consecutive win courtesy of two first half goals from Louie Middlehurst and Dale Davies.

The visitors did have the opportunity to increase their lead several times in the second half, but stubborn defending from the home side and some good saves from their keeper Jake Baker kept the Colliers at bay.

Cefn Albion 4 Penycae 0

Albion stayed in the title picture with a comfortable win over Penycae in a match switched to Park Hall, Oswestry.

James Jones (2) and Alex Williams put the Cefners in control with a 3-0 half time lead.

Dion Gibbins added a fourth nine minutes into the second half.

Dolgellau AA 1 Welshpool Town 2

Goals from Adam Knott and Joshua Lenc clinched the points for the Powys men at Cae Marian.

Jake Jones had equalised for Dolgellau in the first half after Knott edged the visitors in front.

Llanfair United 1 Bow Street 2

Quite a surprise at Mount Field as Bow Street upset the title aspirations of Llanfair.

Bow made it a double over the second-place side, who they also beat at home by the same score back in October.

Iolo Ap Dafydd was the winning side’s hero on Saturday, netting on 13 and 84 minutes, Ben Jones replying for United, who have now suffered back-to-back league defeats.

Rhos Aelwyd 6 Corwen 1

Daniel Roberts was a hat-trick hero for a Rhos side which romped to a 6-1 victory at Ponciau Banks.

The hosts struck as early as the third minute when Aled Robertson finished after a free kick came back off the post.

In the ninth minute, Corwen failed to clear their lines, which allowed Daniel Roberts to get through on goal and power a shot beyond keeper Nathan Roberts at the near post.

Corwen were back in the game on 37 minutes through Ryan Billington’s piledriver beyond the reach of Steffan Parry.

Two minutes later the visitors looked as if they were going to level when Oliver Crimp headed at goal, but he brought a great save out of Parry.

This proved to be a key moment, as a minute before the break keeper Parry launched the ball forward and Daniel Roberts blasted into the back of the net to make it 3-1 at half time.

Scott Reeves, Roberts’ hat-trick goal and James Rumsey late dipping effort doubled the Aelwyd tally in the second half.
