While 1879 skipper Rachael Nattrass was delighted to pick up a convincing win on Anglesey she was full of praise for opponents Trearddur Bay.
The islanders had celebrated their first league win a week earlier against Llangefni Town, but found Rhyl a different proposition.
Nonetheless, the visitors had to work hard for their success.
Candice Nellist netted five for the away side to move up to 22 goals for the season, Nattrass herself scored twice, while Rebecca Bannister and Tegan Crockett were also on the mark.
Trearddur also had their attacking moments, Gail Paterson-Manning going close to pulling a goal back.
Captain Rachael said: “We travelled to Trearddur Bay with a small squad which resulted in a number of players playing out of position. The girls did not let this affect them, they remained positive throughout and knew they had to get the job done.
“We struggled to get the ball down and play football for large parts of the first half but this did not stop the girls battling. We scored 4 great goals in the first half which came from some great assists. Candice and Tegan worked Trearddur Bays back 4 tirelessly for the full 90 minutes.
“On a warm day in the Bay, the girls knew we had to give more and they did not disappoint. A further 5 well taken goals in the second half was what the girls deserved. Some great build up play in the second half led to these goals.
“All in all a good performance from Lauren in goal to the strikers up top and our substitutes, who were brilliant when they came on.
“Lastly, Trearddur Bay were brilliant, they battled throughout the whole game. They never gave up and certainly made it very difficult for us at times. They are a credit to the league and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”
