Prestatyn Sports 3 CPD Llansannan 0

Mike Jones netted a hat-trick as Prestatyn Sports regained the leadership of the North Wales Coast East Premier Division at the expense of Llansannan.

The result was just the tonic for John Hargreaves and Sion Williams’ team ahead of this weekend’s derby at Meliden.

Beaten 4-0 at CPD Y Rhyl 1879 seven days earlier, this was the perfect response from the all-reds.

From the off, they pushed up the pitch attacking very well.

Sports broke the deadlock in the 24th minute. A great run down the right by Sam Herd led to him finding Antonio Jacovelli and he put a great ball across the box. Jones looked as if he would be second to the ball, but put in an amazing effort to get there first and smash it home.

The second was almost a carbon copy of the first, Jacovelli again from the right and Jones slotting in from close range.

For the second half, the visitors changed formation and it troubled Sports for a bit.

However, the points were sealed when Tom Kemp broke down the right flank and Herd played a lofted ball into the box to Jacovelli. He turned well but was brought down and the ref had no option but a penalty.

Mike Jones stepped up for his hat trick, coolly dispatching to the keeper’s left.

COOKSON CUP

CPD Llannefydd 3 Glan Conwy 0

Three goals in a 10-minute spell before the break sent Llannefydd into the Cookson Cup final.

Ciran Jones broke the deadlock on 35 minutes, then Elgan Hughes and Luke Appleby added further strikes for Gwyndaf Pritchard’s side.

Llannefydd will meet the winners of this weekend’s other semi between CPD Y Rhyl 1879 and Penmaenmawr Phoenix in the final.

DIVISION ONE

UP TO AND INCLUDING MARCH 5 – http://www.allwalessport.co.uk

Llysfaen 1 Abergele 2

First half goals from Jack Hoult and Dom Holland booked the win which edged Abergele up to second in Division One.

Gele are now unbeaten in 15 matches over all competitions and have to be considered major title contenders at this stage.

Connor Morris replied for Llysfaen in the second half, but the visitors took the spoils.

Penrhyn Bay Dragons 4 NFA 4

All-square in this topsy-turvy affair, Osian Spencer, Callum McMillan-Howden, Jamie Ricketts and Jack Kearney netting for Dragons, with Jordan Taylor, Liam Bowers, Oliver Hansen and Macauley Pollitt replying.

Rhyl All Stars 2 Llanelwy Athletic 10

Mike Chapman struck five times for a dominant Llanelwy.

Sandy Malone’s title hopefuls were too ruthless for the hosts in the finishing department, Danny Porter (3), Steve Kirk and Matthew Pendleton providing the rest.

Joe Smith – who put the hosts in front in the opening minute – and Jack Heath bagged consolation goals for All Stars.

Rhyl Dragons 3 Betws-y-Coed 3

A great point for bottom side Betws.

Steve Taylor, Nathan Griffiths and Kelvin Berks struck for the hosts, but sadly Betws did not include their scorers on the Cymru Football App.

However, thanks to Mr Gareth Evans asking for them on the club’s Facebook page, we discovered Shaun Davies and Luke Snape (2) found the net for the away side, who really deserve their scorers mentioned.
