FAW TROPHY QUARTER-FINAL REPORTS

Pontyclun 0
Mold Alexandra 1 (Ormrod 68)

Mold will be the sole flag bearer for North Wales in the FAW Amateur Trophy semi-finals after today’s hard fought win at Ivor Park.

Joey Ormrod scored the all-important 68th minute goal which secured the third tier Ardal North West leaders their place in the last four.

Joel Woodington had an early chance for the Ardal South hosts when he was through one-on-one with keeper Elliot Quinlan, but Mold’s Alex Smith got back to make a crucial clearance.

Home keeper Sam L’Homme was then forced to produce a great save from an Ormrod strike.

Another goal-line clearance was required by Alex midway through the half after Quinlan had made a fine stop.

Half time arrived scoreless and it remained tight after the break, Pontyclun seeing a cross hit the bar before the hosts had to clear off the line following a Mold flag kick.

Then on 68 minutes came the decider, Ormrod’s effort finding its way past L’Homme to make it 1-0 to the visitors slightly against the run of play.

Only the heroics of L’Homme denied Danny Warren and substitute Dylan Jefferys before the end.

An amazing run of 16 straight wins in all competitions came to an end for Bodedern at Evans Bevans Playing Fields.

Ricky Williams’ side lost for just the second time in 29 games this season in a South v North battle of tier 4 table-toppers.

While Bodedern performed well and on another day could have taken the win, it was Baglan who grabbed the goals that counted, Tom Randall and Lewis Holmes scoring a minute apart midway through the second half.

Rockspur Fords 3 (Keefe 13, Jeremiah 17, Lewis 82)
Cefn Albion 0

Tier 5 giant-killers Rockford continued their amazing run in the Trophy by knocking out the holders Albion at the Pryderi Park Stadium.

Goals inside the first 20 minutes from Sam Keefe and Richard Jeremiah put the Swansea Senior League Division One hosts in control.

In the 36th minute Rockspur had Ryan Trick sent off for a second yellow card, but even with 10 men Albion could not break the hosts down.

Aaron Lewis made sure of a home success by netting their third eight minutes from time, and to complete a miserable afternoon for the Ardal North East visitors, they had Josh Millington and Jordan Williams dismissed in added time.

Other quarter-final score:

Ynyshir Albions 2 (Joe Eason 6 & 47) Monmouth Town 0
