Netty Jones is one of the best goalkeepers to feature in North Wales women’s football over the past 20 years.
She was a member of Denbigh Town’s team of 2014/15 which won the North Wales League title and reached the Welsh Cup quarter-finals.
In the national cup, Netty put in a tremendous performance in a 5-0 defeat at Welsh Premier giants Cardiff City FC Women. The keeper was so impressive in that game she was invited for Wales trials.
And at 39 this fine stopper still retains plenty of her magic.
Last weekend, Denbigh lost 10-0 to Connah’s Quay in the Genero Adran North, but Netty, who recently made a football comeback, came up with a double-figure number of great saves, earning huge praise from the winning team.

I’ve always been sporty and started playing with a group of lads in school, but found the game interesting
About 20 years
No, I started outfield in my first game with Corwen and got sent off
I don’t really have one, but do a lot of upper body strength work at home in my own time
Chill with my dogs and go to see my mates
Fran Kirby
Jessica Ennis-Hill
Well it’s gotta be the one and only Jürgen Klopp
I think what keeps us together is that the team does have a lot of fight and spirit. Our heads might go down but we’re always ready for the next match and this season is a training session for the young and new players in our squad
It’s hard to choose cause each match is different, but probably when we played Cardiff in the 2014/15 Welsh Cup
Winning the North Wales League with Denbigh Town Ladies in 2014/15
The purple goalie kit – had my best games in it
Got to be something I’m moving along to haha
I have two dogs – Delly and Loui
Healing others and coaching the next Denbigh keeper
I don’t expect to achieve much. I play for enjoyment and to win but also to help the young ones with their confidence
John, Sharon and Jamie Clayton – they made me the keeper I am today
