CPD Llanuwchllyn manager Riki Wyn Rowlands is celebrating what he labels a “massive” signing.
The Ardal North West high-flyers have recruited midfield ace Ilan Hughes from Colwyn Bay.
Hughes came through the under-16’s at Ruthin Town, then played for the Colts and reserves before making his first team debut at the age of 20. He was first team captain at 24.
In January 2020, he earned a move to Cymru Premier club Aberystwyth Town, against whom he had impressed in a Welsh Cup tie for Ruthin a month earlier.
January 2021 brought a switch to Cymru North outfit Colwyn Bay.
Now he joins Llanuwchllyn, who are fifth in tier 3 Ardal North West, just six points off leaders Mold Alexandra with two games in hand.
Llan manager Rowlands said: “Ilan Hughes signing for Llanuwchllyn is massive. He will bring extra quality to an already strong midfield, he also has good experience having played at the highest level in Wales and that will help the squad in the coming months now once we get going again.
“He is also a leader and has a great attitude. He’s been training with us a few months now and been coming to most games and we are really excited to see him in a Llan shirt again.
“A few clubs have approached him over the last few months so for him to commit early to us shows how far we have come as a club. He’s a great lad to and has the same ambitions as us which makes everything so much easier.”
