ADRAN TROPHY GROUP 2 NORTH

Bethel 0
Connah’s Quay Nomads 3 (Kirstie Kural, Llinos Hughes, Shannon Hobbs)

Nomads made it back-to-back wins in the Adran Trophy with a very impressive win at a strong Bethel outfit.

The Quay won on match day one 6-0 against Denbigh Town, so they have a perfect record in the competition so far.

Llandudno and Nomads share the leadership of Group 2 North with six points apiece.

Nomads started Sunday’s game well. On a sloping pitch they were shooting uphill in the first half so sat deep to stop the pace of Bethel in behind.

After five minutes the visitors won the ball in midfield and played a through ball for striker Tamara Hamer who was brought down just outside the box.

Kirstie Kural fired the free kick against the post.

Nomads again went close as Shannon Hobbs pressed high up the pitch and won the ball. She played a cross into the box which broke to Kylie Jones, but her shot went over the bar.

After half an hour Nomads had the breakthrough. Kural brought the ball onto her left foot on the edge of the box and her shot went through a crowd of players and ended up in the bottom corner for her seventh goal of the season.

Just before half time Nomads made it two. A corner taken by Kural was delivered right on the six-yard box, defender Llinos Hughes met it and sent a powerful header into the back of the net.

Into the second half and Nomads now had the slope on their side. A ball played up to striker Kylie Jones saw her release Hobbs, who lobbed over the advancing keeper to make it 3-0.

Credit to Bethel who worked hard for the rest of the half. The game was scrappy and hard fought by both teams who cancelled each other out for the rest of the tie.
