PREMIER DIVISION

Although Bangor 1876 maintained their 100% league record with a ninth straight win they had to recover from a goal down at half time to see off a determined Mynydd Llendegai outfit.

The fan-owned club are now top of the North Wales Coast West Premier Division on goal difference.

Once again, as was the case in the 3-1 success at Menai Bridge Tigers earlier in the week, late goals helped make the difference for 1876.

Jamie Petrie forced a good save from home goalkeeper Dafydd Morris before Llandegai took the lead against the run of play.

A long clearance by keeper Morris was allowed to bounce and this enabled Osian Jones to head the ball over 1876 goalkeeper Ben Heald and into the net.

Corey Jones and Aaron Heald went close to an equaliser, but it remained 1-0 at the break.

Whatever was said in the Bangor dressing room at half-time seemed to make a difference as the side began the second period with renewed determination and forced an early corner from the left.

Corey Jones headed the inswinging set-piece against the crossbar and his follow-up header was pushed against the bar by Morris. Tom Clarke’s ensuing header was also palmed away on the line but by home defender Tomos Williams.

Williams was sent off for preventing a certain goal and a penalty kick was awarded which Chris Jones converted.

Minutes later a determined run and shot from Les Davies resulted in another corner, and ultimately a second goal for 1876.

Although the flag kick was cleared, it reached Cameron Barry on the edge of the box, and his shot made it 2-1.

With just over 20 minutes to go, Luke Steele’s header was well saved by Morris.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, the hosts stayed in the game for much of the second half.

Mynydd were somewhat hampered by injuries with scorer Osian Jones going off injured at half-time and his strike partner Alwyn Roberts having to leave the field wrapped in bandages after a head injury during the second period.

Substitute attacker Cai Holdsworth also had to leave the action due to injury not long after taking the field.

The injury to Alwyn Roberts resulted in a lengthy stoppage and a significant amount of injury time being added on.

In the fourth added minute a left-wing cross from substitute Harry Galeotti was powerfully headed in by Corey Jones.

From the last action of the match, Chris Jones scored his second after deftly lifting the ball over the advancing Morris.

Rest of the Premier Division

Llanberis defeated Glantraeth 4-1 at Ffordd Padarn, Tomos Owen, Tom Collins, Kurt Hellfeld and Gethin Wakeham (penalty) with the home goals, Kieren Lewis responding.

Nefyn United are second after thrashing Amlwch Town 6-0 in what was a good afternoon for the Jones’s.

Carl Jones and Ifan Jones notched two goals apiece, Tomos Jones and Osian Jones one each.

Penrhyndeudraeth whipped Aberffraw 5-0 to stay among the leaders, Marcus Orlik and Richard Jones with a double apiece, Tomos Smith also on the mark.

Division One

Leaders Llannerchymedd won 3-0 at Llanystumdwy.

Chris Bennett, Llion Vaughan Jones and James Burgess grabbed the vital goals.

Bethesda Athletic move into second, but they had to work hard for a 4-3 success at Holyhead Town.

Joe Todd and Kyle Hartleb netted two each for Mark Hughes’ men, Ian Williams, James Ryan and Ryan Heywood running a much-improved Holyhead close.

Waunfawr hammered CPD Y Fali 6-0, Aled Pritchard (2), Adam Jones, Guto Llywelyn, Ioan Gwynedd and Cai Ditchburn splitting the goals.

And Llangoed and District were on a high after outscoring high-flying Caergybi 5-2.

Wayne Thomas (2), Deio Roberts, Aled Jones and Rob Boyes were the home marksmen, Mike Edwards and Gary-Jo Owen replying.
