Monday report – North Wales Coast West Premier Division

Menai Bridge Tigers 0
Bodedern Athletic 2 (Thomas 50, Gregson 59)

Bodedern made it a magnificent seven straight wins in the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division thanks to two second-half goals at Treborth.

It took Ricky Williams’ side 50 minutes to break down Menai’s stiff resistance, after which they went on to deservedly make it 21 points out of a possible 21.

Williams was delighted with the performance, saying: “I thought we were superb all round the pitch tonight. There wasn’t much in the first half but we took the game away from them in the first 15 of the second half.

“The first goal we scored was superb, great play between Asa (Thomas) and Loggs (Marc Evans) and Asa finished superbly. The second was a good goal also as Sam (Gregson) ran the length of the pitch to finish.

“Overall a great performance against a very good side. We look ahead to Saturday’s last 16 FAW Trophy match now.”

The deadlock was broken five minutes into the second half when Thomas finished brilliantly after linking up well with strike partner Evans.

It was Thomas’ 23rd goal of the campaign.

In the 59th minute Gregson made it two with his sixth of the season, rounding off a terrific run with another good finish.

That game manager Williams mentions on Saturday will see Bodedern host tier 3 Ardal North East outfit Berriew for a place in the FAW Amateur Trophy quarter-finals.
