Reserve leagues: Penmaenmawr suffer a first defeat, Mold hit opponents for six

Penmaenmawr Phoenix Reserves suffered a first defeat after starting the season with three straight wins

RESERVE FOOTBALL ROUND-UPS – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

NORTH WALES COAST LEAGUE RESERVE DIVISION

Llanberis Reserves 2 (Connor Roberts 4, Rhys Hughes 28)
Penmaenmawr Phoenix Reserves 1 (M Williams 75)

In front of a great crowd at Ffordd Padarn, both sides produced a great advert for the new North Wales Coast Reserve League.

Llanberis started the game much better and got their reward in the fourth minute when Connor Roberts broke the deadlock.

Rhys Hughes scored in the 28th minute to make it 2-0.

Grady Walding went close for Pen, hitting the bar from 20 yards just before the break.

Phoenix regrouped at half time and began the second period much better, playing the more attractive football throughout.

Llanberis defended deep and had to make two goal-line clearances.

Substitute Mackenzie Williams finally pulled one back in the 75th minute for Pen with a great finish from the edge of the area after a solo run from midfield.

The Darans defended well from there on and held out to get the 2-1 win.

FAW RESERVE LEAGUE NORTH EAST

Airbus and Connah’s Quay Nomads shared a 1-1 draw, Dylan Cunnah on target for the Wingmakers, Harry Owen for the visitors.

Lewis Hopwood (3), Jordan Hensel and Edward Lloyd (2) combined to deliver Mold Alexandra Reserves a 6-0 result at Brymbo Reserves.

Haci Ozlu (2) and Aiden Fox were Brickfield Rangers’ goal heroes in a 3-0 result at Cefn Albion.

Brad Pearce, Ryan Davies, Harry Jones and Asa Riley were all on the scoresheet as Chirk AAA Reserves triumphed 4-1 at Rhos Aelwyd, Daniel Roberts responding.

FAW RESERVE LEAGUE NORTH WEST

James Thomas scored a first senior goal for Denbigh Town Reserves

Denbigh Town Reserves saw off St Asaph Reserves 3-0 in a local derby, Conor Jones, Owen Heath and a first senior goal for 17-year-old James Thomas booking the points.

Aeron Wyn Williams pocketed a hat-trick for Nantlle Vale in a 4-1 success versus Llangefni Town Reserves.

Declan Williams also netted for Nantlle, James Couchman with a goal for the visitors.
