Craig Papirnyk’s Porthmadog side bounced back in style from their midweek loss to Llanrwst with a 5-2 success at The Rec.

The visitors made a very fast start as Julian Williams looped a header onto the crossbar in the opening minutes and Dewi Thomas was one of many who tested opposition keeper Luke Christie with long range efforts.

Dylan Roberts was also forced to save well from a Rhostyllen attempt.

With 23 minutes gone, Port took a deserved lead. Stuart Rogers flighted in a quality set piece delivery and Julian Williams’ header nestled in the back of the net.

However, the away side’s joy was short-lived as three minutes later, some chronic defending led to a simple strike by Lee McBurney making it 1-1.

In the 37th minute, Julian Williams once again got his head to a cross from Josh Banks to double his tally and restore Port’s lead.

Three minutes later, some absolutely sublime team play led to John Littlemore’s pass setting up Ifan Emlyn Jones to score with the crispest of 20-yard strikes. Half-time: 1-3.

The second half did not start as well for the Traeth outfit as they conceded in the opening five minutes, albeit this time with a hint of controversy.

From a corner, a Rhostyllen player headed the ball onto the post and the rebound by Sam Chesters seemed to be clawed off the line by Dylan Roberts.

However, the referee and his assistant seemed convinced that it had crossed the line and awarded a goal.

Once again, this seemed to spark the Port players back to life, and they had restored their two-goal lead within four minutes as Rogers bent an absolute beauty of a finish into the corner of the net.

Port’s fifth came when Rhys Alun finished with great aplomb following a corner.

Congratulations to young Cian Pritchard on making his first-team debut as a second-half sub – he certainly made an impact and it is always great to see young players breaking through from the reserve side.

Rest of the division

Jack Mountford, Liam Hughes, Jonny Taylor and Tom Wells were all on target in Llay Welfare’s comfortable 4-1 win at Blaenau Amateurs, who benefited from a Dean Bryan own goal.

Rhys Nash and Conner Kendrick grabbed the goals which earned Mold Alexandra a 2-1 triumph over visitors Llanuwchllyn, for whom Joe Williams converted a penalty.

Leaders Saltney Town were held 1-1 by Y Felinheli.

Connor Japheth edged Felin in front on 45 minutes, Tommy Booth equalising on 56.

Brymbo took the honours 3-1 at St Asaph City, Yusuf Mohsin (2) and Luc Bonfrer striking for the Steelmen, Andy Booker responding.

Kristian Pierce and substitute Lee Davey earned Denbigh Town a 2-1 success at Llanrwst United on Sunday. Sam Jones had edged the hosts in front via a 50th minute penalty, but Town recovered to take the points.
