Andrew Swarbrick hit his biggest score of the season – a massive 147 – in Chirk’s high-scoring draw at Cound on Saturday.
It was Swarbrick’s third league century of the summer (he also has a 99) and pushed him up to 767 runs for 2021 – by far the highest total in the division.
Also a talented footballer, who currently plays for Ruabon Rovers in the North East Wales League but has represented Welsh Premier club Cefn Druids in the past, Swarbrick’s 147 was also the second highest score of his career, just 12 behind the 159 he amassed for Chirk at Mochdre seconds in 2015.
The 147 included 22 fours and six sixes and was part of Chirk’s mammoth 307-9 off 45 overs after they were put into bat.
Swarbrick shared a fourth-wicket stand of 110 with Nick Flack (33).
And the run machine was not finished there – he also did some damage with the ball.
Swarbrick claimed 4-25 off nine overs and fellow new-baller Luke Gardner scooped 3-48, but Cound held on for the draw at 216-8 off 45, skipper Joe Yapp their star man with 91.
Chirk 1st XI are due to host Worfield 2nd XI next Saturday at Holyhead Road.
Chirk 2nd XI picked up 20 points without bowling a ball on Saturday as scheduled visitors Allscott Heath 3rd XI conceded (-5).
Chirk seconds are set to visit Lilleshall 3rd XI next Saturday in Division Seven.
