Sunday cricket – good wins for Mochdre, Llandudno and Menai Bridge thirds

ICON SPORTS NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE – REPORTS FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 15

SUNDAY WEST DIVISION

MOCHDRE 3RD XI (11) 193-10 CLWB CRICED BAE COLWYN 3RD XI (4) 189-10

Mochdre won a thrilling Sunday derby by just four runs.
After winning the toss and deciding to bat, the hosts lost three very early wickets, but the middle order steadied things, skipper Mike Humphreys top-scoring with a fine 55.
A total of 44 extras helped Mochdre reach 193 before being all out off the penultimate ball, James Smith taking 4-28 and Matt Russell 2-14 for Bay.
Sam Bright (78 not out) and Smith (54) starred in Bay’s reply, but the visitors were all out for 189 off the last delivery.
Mochdre’s Owen Davies took 3-24, Aamer Sardar 2-22 and Owen Opie 2-34.

LLANDUDNO 3RD XI (15) 113-1 CARMEL AND DISTRICT 3RD XI (0) 111-4

Llandudno took just 15 overs to reach the 112 needed for victory over Carmel at The Oval.
The visitors opted to bat and set 111-4 off 27 overs, Ieuan Jones posting 37 not out.
Tom Thornton then slammed 78 not out off 52 balls, including 11 fours and a six, as Tudno eased to 113-1.

CLWB CRICED CONWY 3RD XI (4) 127-10 MENAI BRIDGE 3RD XI (11) 138-9

Toby Watson’s commanding 76 was not enough to deliver Conwy victory over their Anglesey visitors.
Put into bat, Menai Bridge made 138-9 off their 40 overs, Sam Bixby hitting 46 and Ian Granger 37, Harry Driscoll 3-29 for the hosts, David Owen 2-18.
Skipper Watson was one of just two double-figure contributors in Conwy’s response and that was the problem as the innings ended on 127 all out.
Mathew Jones scooped 4-21, Bixby 3-22 and Ben Evans 2-8 for the islanders, who triumphed by 11 runs.
